Sri Lanka (virtual) 2020
Covid-19 scuttled plans for an in-person workshop in spring 2020, so we ventured into a new frontier—online teaching—in late summer 2020. Armed with a new webcam and mic, I taught from my home office into the wee hours of the night, engaging with an eager cohort of scientists, researchers, patent examiners, etc., from what I understand to be a beautiful country, Sri Lanka (I do hope to visit in person post-pandemic). Though online lecture-style teaching proved challenging in that the mode seemed less amenable to direct interactive engagement, the tools of screen-sharing and the ability to mark-up work from my computer allowed for brilliant sessions of live feedback.
