Ryadh, Saudi Arabia 2016

Visiting Riyadh (my first extended stay) to teach a patent drafting workshop at the GCC Patent Office was fascinating, enlightening, and unforgettable—culturally very different yet with many surprising commonalities. Saudis were warm and welcoming, and gender barriers were not what I imagined—we had a group about evenly mixed with male and female patent examiners, and the women were not hesitant to speak up and speak out. Teaching and interacting with examiners from the GCC patent offices and other middle eastern patent offices was very rewarding.

Here I am presenting the first patent claim-drafting exercise.
